Obama Doesn’t Know How to Benchmark Best in Class June 11, 2009
For most of my professional career as a business journalist I’ve covered top companies and some of their best in class practices. These companies are the companies that other up-and-coming enterprises benchmark themselves against.
If you’re not a best-in-class company, no one will emulate you. You won’t be the benchmark or standard to follow.
So now in America Obama wants us to convert to universal health care. Is there any standard out there to benchmark against? The U.K? Canada? These are not standards to follow. They are failures. Yet, we’re moving in that direction.
Oh, we say, Obama and his team will set the standard. They can make it best-in-class. Because he’s the messiah? It won’t work because it will be government led. A non-human entity making life and death decisions for individuals is not capable. It’s not structured to succeed, but fail. Our own government-led entities have already proven that.
Change we can believe in. Come on.
