Lifestyle Tip: Frame Your Sunrises and Sunsets July 2, 2007
Me and Dad, Sawtooth Mts in back
I went down this weekend with Dad and Mom to see their home they are building near the Sawtooth Mountains (near Arizona City, Arizona). It’s a stark and beautiful place. If you take a close look at the mountain range you can understand the creative inspiration for Sawtooth.
Anyway, Dad and Mom have planned long and hard for this new home with a shop featuring enough space for Dad’s airplane. The development caters to the pilot and Dad fits right in.
What struck me about Dad and Mom’s effort is the time they took to lay out how the house will sit facing the mountain and where they put their windows. One major window in the living room will allow the viewer to watch the setting sun as it goes behind the mountain.
When I look at some of the other homes in the area, and they’re all beautiful, I don’t get the feeling they took the time to consider their view. One home hardly has any windows!
I’m suspect that Dad and Mom have done this not only because they appreciate the beauty of God’s creation but that they need to see their sunrises and sunsets. The understand their beginning and end. Where they came from and where they’re going. Dad frames everything. He does it with exact measures too and he delights in every detail.
So, even without a picture window to frame your sunrise and sunset, somehow frame them for your life and let them be your delight.
